Lebanon Emerald Mound Fire Department

A couple years ago, we had a vision. A vision for our own training facility. After lots of legwork, working with our district trustees, discussion about budget and what we actually wanted, that vision became reality last night! We got some good training last night while trying it out for the first time. Teaser alert, it gets HOT!

Thanks to our district trustees for their support and help, to Fire Props Unlimited LLC for sharing our vision and building it, and to our community for their unending support! This is what your tax money goes towards, and also the money you spend at our Firemen's Picnic, Fish Fry, and Golf Tournament! Our hope is that this will keep us trained for generations to come!!!

Big thanks to O'Fallon Fire Department Mascoutah Fire Department and New Baden Fire Department for their assistance while we worked a serious vehicle accident AND a call for smoke in a building. We greatly appreciate the help!!!

Want to give a shout-out to local business Pressure Pump Supply and Kyle Kombrink for donating his time and equipment to help us wash the west wall of our shed, where all the frying is done for the Picnic and Fish Fry! Hasn't looked that good since the shed went up 10 years ago, thanks Kyle!!!

Many more battles were had, only took video of 3. Even some of the old wily veterans took part, to show the younguns a thing or 3!

So for training tonight, we got something out that hasn't seen the light of day in a few decades! Had some good old fashioned water fights! Pretty sure the last time that barrel got used was sometime in the mid 90's at a fire department family picnic! Nozzle usage, hose management, and teamwork were the main training points tonight. And some good camaraderie!!! This is the kind of fun we will start having more of, so if you ever thought about joining, come see us on a Tuesday night sometime!

Videos to come!!!

🚒👨🏻‍🚒 FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY 👨🏻‍🚒🚒
Meet our Assistant Chief at Engine House 1 in Lebanon, Rod Reinneck! Rod wears many hats within the department- Assistant Chief, Chaplain, and he is part of the training committee for both firefighters and cadets, just to name a few. He is also painting our training tower that should be ready very soon!! Rod is always someone you can depend on, to give you words of wisdom, to lend an ear, and to find the positive in every situation. He is the first one to say how well of a job you did on the fire ground and one of the last to leave the station.
