🎃👻 Trick-or-Treat Safety Reminders! 👻🎃
Halloween is almost here! As families get ready for a night of costumes, candy and fun, here are a few simple reminders to help keep little ghosts and goblins safe:
🍬 Stay together: Young children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult. Make sure older children know where they’re going and what time they need to be home.
🔦 Be visible: Use flashlights, glow sticks or reflective tape on costumes and bags so children can be easily seen by drivers.
🚗 Watch for traffic: Use sidewalks whenever possible and cross streets at designated crosswalks. Look both ways before crossing and never dart between parked cars.
🎭 Choose costumes wisely: Make sure costumes fit properly and won’t cause children to trip. Avoid masks or accessories that block vision.
🍭 Check the treats: Remind children not to eat their candy until a trusted adult has had a chance to check it.
🏠 Practice door safety: Only visit homes that are well-lit and remind children never to enter a stranger’s home or vehicle.
🐶 Be mindful of pets: Even friendly pets can become frightened or overwhelmed by costumes and a steady stream of visitors. Keep pets safely secured during trick-or-treating.
❤️ Most importantly, have fun! Halloween is a great opportunity to make memories with your family while keeping safety in mind.
From all of us at Warren County Children Services, we hope you have a safe, happy and spooktacular Halloween! 🎃🕷️👻
