⬇️ ‘27-‘28 OPEN ENROLLMENT INFO 🏫

If you are not interested in Open Enrollment for your student(s) next school year, then you can disregard this post. 👀

If you're not exactly sure what Open Enrollment is, it allows you to apply for an out-of-zone school for your student(s), provided there's space available and you're under the full understanding that if approved, then you are responsible for daily transportation to/from that out-of-zone school. 🚌

Still not interested? Then have a great rest of the day! You can stop here. 🛑

For those saying, 'tell me more," then the link below has all the details you need on making that choice, if it's one you're considering. 🤔

Here's the info link: www.wcschools.com/students-families/open-enrollment

The 2027-2028 Open Enrollment process for Wilson County Schools will take place on November 1, 2026, and conclude on December 1st, 2026. No applications will be accepted before then, and no applications will be accepted after the deadline. A reminder will be sent prior to 11/1 about the application window opening. 🗓️

Here's an important note to keep in mind - If you were previously approved for Open Enrollment, and your student(s) are attending that preferred school this school year, and will attend that school again next school year, then you do not need to re-apply. ‼️✅

If you have any questions at all about Open Enrollment, then please contact WCS Attendance Supervisor Tammy Crane, [email protected]

Thank so much,

Wilson County Schools

Let's unite for kindness and wear orange tomorrow! 🔶

💫

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, an annual nationwide campaign observed every October to raise awareness, prevent childhood bullying, and promote kindness across our communities.

🧡 Mark Your Calendars: Unity Day is October 21!

Join us in taking a visible stand against bullying. On Wednesday, October 21, wear ORANGE as our signature symbol to unite for kindness.

How You Can Participate:

Wear Orange: Put on an orange shirt, tie, sweater, or accessory on October 21.

Spread Kindness: Take extra time this month to reach out, include others, and speak up against bullying behavior.

Share the Message: Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to wear orange and share photos. Tag us on Facebook: Wilson County Schools, Coordinated School Health WCS and WCSchools Family Resource Center.

Together, we can create a safer, and kinder environment for everyone!

⬇️ BIG DAY AT BOXWELL! 👀

There’s a great relationship building between LaGuardo Elementary and nearby Boxwell Scout Reservation!

On Tuesday, before students returned today, LGE teachers spent a day of collaboration and team building at “The Box!”

They had an incredible time! Here are some of the highlights:

✅They completed their COPE course (5 rotation activities) including trust based exercises and team work strategy based activities. The teachers were divided into 5 random teams of 10 to allow them to get to know one another even better.

✅Then, they went to the STEM center where the scout leaders had STEM activities organized by grade level (K-5) where teachers learned about animals, chemistry, germs, circuits, fingerprinting, engineering and robots.

✅The teachers were able to participate in activities that students could participate with during future field trip opportunities.

✅They toured the camp, including the Ga***rd Cub area designated for the youngest students.

✅Finally, they hosted them for a lunch in their beautiful new Stahlman building!

Special thanks to Jason Flannery, Camping Director and Vance Lackey, Deputy Scout Executive for working so closely with LGE to help make it a very memorable day, and many more to come!

⬇️ WMS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY! 🪏

It was a gorgeous evening to welcome a beautiful new project on the way - the new Watertown Middle School! 🏫

Expected to open in around two years, it’s an enormous next step for a much needed new middle school for the Watertown community. 💜

While the current WMS holds many special memories and generations of history, the new WMS will definitely be a place that Watertown will be proud of when completed. 🛠️

Many thanks to all who have helped make this project become a reality, from previous school board members, to current ones. Also, current district leadership and previous leaders who helped shape the direction of this project, and to Wilson County Government, thank you for your continued support. Design and construction teams are applauded for all they do as well! 📢

A HUGE thank you to the citizens of Wilson County. It’s extremely clear that you love our students and educators, and we’re so appreciative of your continued support! ❤️
