🚒 LEEDS FIRE & RESCUE | FIREFIGHTER SURVIVAL TRAINING

Four members of Leeds Fire & Rescue recently attended Todd Edwards’ Firefighter Survival School, hosted by Chelsea Fire & Rescue.

This demanding, hands-on course focused on firefighter survival, Mayday operations, emergency escape techniques, and firefighter rescue.

We recognize these members for their hard work and dedication to furthering their training and improving their skills. Their commitment to continued training helps strengthen our department and better prepares us to serve the citizens of Leeds.

🚒 Leeds Fire & Rescue – September 2026 Monthly Report 🚑

September was a record-breaking month for Leeds Fire & Rescue. Our crews responded to 257 calls for service, making it our busiest month in the past 10 years.

📍 Station Responses
• Station 1: 150 incidents
• Station 2: 107 incidents

📊 Incident Breakdown
• Medical Calls: 155
• Public Service Calls: 53
• Cancelled / No Emergency: 33
• Hazardous Situations: 7
• Fire-Related Incidents: 5
• Law Enforcement Assistance: 4

🔥 September Training Highlights
In addition to responding to emergencies, our crews stayed focused on training and readiness. During September, personnel hosted the Alabama Fire College Burn Trailer, completed annual job-task fitness evaluations, trained on reading smoke conditions, participated in a life-safety and facility-familiarization drill at Atrox Factory, and completed EMS training on recognizing and treating sepsis in observance of National Sepsis Awareness Month.

As Atrox Factory prepares to welcome guests back to the City of Leeds, this familiarization drill helped our crews better understand the facility and prepare for potential emergencies.

We appreciate the continued support of our community and remain committed to providing professional fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the City of Leeds.

🔥 GRANT AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT 🔥

Leeds Fire & Rescue has been awarded $58,323.80 through FEMA’s FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. With the City of Leeds’ $2,916.20 match, the total project is $61,240.

This funding will provide 40 complete sets of wildland firefighting PPE. The coats and pants will also be dual-certified for technical-rescue applications, including vehicle extrication.

Having the proper gear for these incidents will reduce unnecessary wear and tear on our structural firefighting ensembles and help limit heat stress on our firefighters.

We appreciate FEMA, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the City of Leeds for supporting our department and community.

Beginning tomorrow after lunch there will a blast on the property adjacent to Oliver Crossing in the new construction area. It will be approximately 1:00 or 1:30. We will post a notice in the morning to update and remind people in the area.
It will happen each day this week around the same time. If it changes we will post updates as we get them.

Thanks
