Katie and Brittany from the Vernon Parish Animal Shelter brought these 2 little rescues by the office on the way to the shelter this morning. These guys will require some TLC and vet care before they are ready for adoption.

If you would like to help with their care, donations can be made to the Animal Shelter account at Brandon Veterinary Clinic.

To brag a little about our shelter, they have been a certified No Kill shelter since 2022 (no animals have been euthanized for space). They have worked very hard to get animals adopted or sent to rescues.

PLEASE have your pets spayed or neutered and keep them on your property.

Just a reminder that Vernon Parish remains under a Burn Ban. While some areas of the parish have received some rain, there are large parts that have not received any significant amounts. Conditions remain dry and unstable.

While it is the Police Jury that issues and rescinds Burn Bans, we do so only after consultation with the Vernon Parish Fire District - they are much more knowledgeable about fire conditions and we take their recommendations seriously.

For more information, please reach out to your local Volunteer Fire Departments and they can explain the current conditions and dangers.
