🛑 PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

At this time law enforcement and first responders are on scene at the campus of Leesville High School.

Chief Mike Campbell of the Leesville Police Department reports that his office received a phone call in which an unknown person alleged that explosives were located on the campus of Leesville High School.

Sheriff Craft along with VPSO Deputies, Officers from the Leesville Police Department, Officers from the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police, and Leesville Fire Department are on scene at the school at this time.

Students and School Faculty have been evacuated and have left the school as scheduled for the day.

Law Enforcement Personnel are awaiting the arrival of the Fort Polk Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit. Specially trained Officers as well as a trained K-9 will conduct an examination of the school in it's entirety.

Sheriff Craft would ask that citizens avoid attempting to travel through the area as the streets are closed in immediate proximity to the school as a precautionary measure.

Again, all students and staff have left the school premises and no injuries have been reported.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
