Community Alert: Siren Testing
Monday, October 19 & Tuesday, October 20

Please be advised that Braniff Communications along with the Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) will be conducting their yearly inspection and maintenance for each siren within the Village on MONDAY, OCTOBER 19 and TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20.

Part of this process includes doing a 5 second blast of each siren – starting the siren and then shutting it down. This is called a burp test. It takes about one hour to do the inspection and maintenance of each siren so residents can expect to hear the blast about once per hour between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.

This is just an annual testing of our siren system in Lemont and no cause for alarm.

LEMA had a great day at Lemont Fire Protection District’s open house this past Saturday! In tandem with LFD and other public safety partners, we were able to showcase our agency’s community role and specialty functions while highlighting community preparedness efforts with our community members.

Lemont EMA is out in Willowbrook Touch a Truck mingling with the public and handing out give aways. We were also showing off our LEMA drone. If you’re in the area stop on by and check us out.

Communities become stronger when preparedness is discussed in schools, businesses understand continuity planning, neighborhoods support vulnerable residents, and organizations work together before emergencies occur.

Emergency managers help foster these connections, but lasting resilience is built by the entire community.

Preparedness is not a one-time event. It's an ongoing commitment to protecting the people and places we value most.
