A great time was had at last night meeting. Jefferson Highway signs for Lenexa will be delivered this week and posted by the end of the month. The Old Town Mural design should be finalized by mid June and Painted by July. Between the City’s Legler Barn & Depot and LHS, there are a lot of great events and presentations.
Last night’s presentation of William A Gordon gave us a look at a family in the mid 1800’s. Education, how doctors were trained, and the wild journey to California to pick gold off the ground. Hah. The bonus was that William A Gordon was the Great, Great Uncle of Nancy Becker.
Go to the Lenexa Historical Society website, Events, to view the calendar of event for LHS and the City’s Legler Barn & Depot.

Lenexa through The City of Lenexa's Lunch and Learns & Happy Hours Programs and LHS Quarterly Meeting Programs are providing excellent historical information for everyone. This last Friday at The City's Happy Hour Program we heard from David W Jackson about his relatives James and David Lee Campbell on the California Trail in 1850. Very informative! It had my attention because I do a presentation about Dr William Gordon, who was our First Lady's Nancy Becker's Great Great Uncle on the California Trail also in 1850. After David's presentation I talked with David about Dr William Gordon and found out that David has records of his family being at the same location same date five times with Dr William Gordon. Be aware of the up coming meetings/programs so that you can also enjoy our history.
