This Saturday, Oct 24, is National Rx Takeback Day. You can safely dispose of those old, unused, or expired prescription medications that are cluttering up your medicine cabinet.

We will have a drive-thru lane set up in the front parking lot of the Lenexa Justice Center for your convenience. We can accept pills, patches, and medical sharps such as needles.

Don't let these medications fall into the wrong hands or potentially be abused by others.

Congratulations to Animal Control Officer III Hope Mason who retires today after 24 years of dedicated service to Lenexa.

Hope has served our residents and cared for animals by reuniting lost pets with their families, addressing animal welfare concerns, providing education to residents of all ages, and countless other situations that come with the job. Hope has been a familiar and valued member of our team.

Twenty-four years of public service is an accomplishment worth celebrating, and we are grateful for Hope's many years of service to Lenexa and our two-legged and four-legged residents.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the families and loved ones forever changed by that day.

We remain especially grateful for the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger in service to others, including those who gave their lives that day and those whose lives were shortened by illnesses in the years that followed.
