The Kansas City Monarchs compete in the American Association of Professional Baseball, an MLB Partner League featuring 12 independent teams focused on delivering competitive, fan-first baseball. The league, founded in 2006, spans regions from Canada to Texas, with a 100-game season running from mid-May through Labor Day and playoffs determining the champion.

Yesterday's Membership Luncheon brought together some of the region’s leading educational voices for an engaging discussion on the current state and future of K–12 education.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Cory Gibson (Unified School District #232), Dr. Michael Schumacher (Shawnee Mission School District), Andy Tylicki (St. James Academy Catholic High School), and Dr. Jim McMullen (Olathe Public Schools), who shared valuable insights on the opportunities and challenges facing students, educators, families, and communities across Johnson County.

Last night, we held a reception sponsored by Atmos Energyos Energy to celebrate the 2026 Class of Leadership Lenexa!

First convening in early February, the class attended nine full-day sessions and planned a community service project. After deciding they wanted to focus on helping children, they chose Sunflower House. Their participation in multiple projects resulted in over 100 volunteer hours. They assisted with preparation for the annual gala, as well as office and storage organization, cleanup, landscaping, and yard work at Sunflower House HQ.

We appreciate the time and attention this group gave to the sessions, their project, and their general curiosity about the subjects presented. They asked great questions and had zero dietary restrictions (an event planner's dream!),
We hope they formed, both personal and professional, that they keep for a long time to come.

Tim flies from the first session to the last, and in no time at all, we'll begin planning for next year. But for now, please join us in congratulating this group of really good people who have already made a difference with their own personal displays of leadership.
