⚠️ Beware of hidden batteries! Batteries should never go in the recycling, and some don't go in the trash, either—they are a major cause of fires at sorting facilities. A lot of Halloween decorations (even the small ones) have batteries in them. If you're getting rid of old decor, check it for batteries before donating or throwing it away.

Only single-use alkaline batteries can go in the trash.

Button Batteries, Lithium Batteries, and Rechargeable Batteries (nickel-cadmium) can be brought to Household Hazardous Waste Collection.

Missed Household Hazardous Waste Collection? There is a household battery kiosk outside the Health Dept. office at City Hall.

When you change your clocks next weekend, don't forget to check your alarms! Smoke and alarms have the manufacturing date printed on the back. Replace smoke alarms after 10 years and CO alarms after 5, 7, or 10 years depending on the model. If your alarms use alkaline batteries, put fresh ones in to protect yourself and your loved ones all winter long! Technology evolves quickly, it can be hard to keep up. 📱💻From October 31st through December 12th, the library will be offering drop in tech help for patrons from 12pm to 1pm in the Historical Conference Room on the 2nd floor. No appointment necessary. Bring your own device or just your questions. First come is first served.
