🚒 Extrication Training — Day 2! 🚒

What an incredible two days of training for Butler County Fire District #9!

Today, we want to put the spotlight on Chief Michael Shipton and Captain Heather Shipton of the Butte Fire Department, Mat-Su Borough, Palmer, Alaska. We cannot thank them enough for traveling here and putting on such an amazing hands-on extrication training for our department.

The knowledge, experience, techniques, and real-world insight they shared with our members over the past two days were invaluable. They didn’t just demonstrate techniques—they worked right alongside our firefighters, answered questions, challenged us, and gave everyone plenty of opportunities to get hands-on and learn.

Training opportunities like this make our department stronger, safer, and better prepared to serve our community when it matters most.

Chief Shipton and Captain Shipton, THANK YOU for investing your time and knowledge into our department. We truly appreciate everything you shared with us and hope this isn’t the last time we get to train together.

Safe travels back to Alaska—and just know, you’re always welcome back at Butler County Fire District #9! We hope to see you again! 🚒❤️

🚒 Extrication Training — Day 1! 🚒

Today, Butler County Fire District #9 had the opportunity to complete hands-on vehicle extrication training with Chief Michael Shipton and Captain Heather Shipton from the Butte Fire Department, Mat-Su Borough, Palmer, Alaska.

Our members learned several new techniques and had plenty of hands-on demonstrations and practice throughout the day. Training like this gives our firefighters valuable skills and new approaches that can make a difference when responding to real-world emergencies.

A huge THANK YOU to Chief Michael Shipton and Captain Heather Shipton for taking the time to share their knowledge, experience, and techniques with our department!

We had a great first day and can’t wait for Day 2 tomorrow! 💪🚒

Butler County Fire District #9 would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the City of Leon, our local churches, Vintage Bank, and the Leon Police Department for organizing such a fantastic Party at the Park to wrap up Leon Community VBS.

We truly appreciate being invited to be a part of this special event. It was an honor to spend the evening with so many wonderful families, meet members of our community, and see the smiles on the kids’ faces as they explored the fire truck and enjoyed all the activities.

🏆 1st Annual BCFD #9 Co-Ed Softball Tournament Champions & Runner-Up! 🥎

What an incredible day of softball!

Congratulations to our 1st Place Champions Lizzo Elite and 2nd Place Runners-Up Parking Lot Squad! Both teams played outstanding all day, and the championship game couldn’t have had a more exciting finish. A walk-off home run to end the tournament was the perfect way to cap off an amazing day of competition!

Today, Butler County Fire District #9 recognizes and thanks Mark Huckabee for his dedicated service to our department and community.

Mark joined BCFD #9 in 1995 and has spent more than 30 years serving the citizens of our district as a volunteer firefighter and an Advanced EMT. Through countless emergency calls, trainings, community events, and hours away from his family, Mark has demonstrated what it means to be committed to serving others.

Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of many rural communities, and people like Mark have helped shape and strengthen our department for generations. His dedication, experience, and willingness to answer the call whenever needed have made a lasting impact on BCFD #9 and the residents we serve.

As Mark retires from active service, we extend our deepest gratitude for his years of sacrifice, commitment, and service. Thank you for everything you have done for this department and community.

Please join us in congratulating Mark Huckabee on his retirement and thanking him for over three decades of service to Butler County Fire District #9.
