A small grassfire today. Even had a couple of junior firefighters stop by and show us how it’s done.

Barn fire assisting CVFD and OVFD from earlier today. So fortunate to be a part of this crew of volunteers. 9 LVFD members in attendance at this call and we got to work with one of our distant mutual aid neighbors Oakwood. Great group today from all departments involved!

Another great training tonight! The crew worked on extrication of a patient from an elevated vehicle. We slow rolled this training to allow for thorough discussion into each decision made along with discussion of why we shouldn’t have made certain decisions. Trainings like these create muscle memory for us with our tools along with the feeling of “we’ve been here before” when a real emergency occurs. A bid thank you to St. Joseph Med 71 for coming out and practicing with us until y’all caught a call.

Another great extrication training planned for tonight at 6pm. So grateful to have Lee Carpenter as our training captain! If anyone is bored and wants to come and watch, come on by.

We had a great morning providing a fire safety class for our neighboring small town private school. The kids seemed to have had a blast and hopefully retained some good information for fire safety. DPS even showed up to make sure everything was being done “by the law”. lol
Excited to do it again next year!

Another great evening of training! So thankful for our Captain for always finding great things for us to train on. This week was victim care and extrication from a utv rollover. Our rescue dummy took another one for the team. lol.
