CONSTRUCTION ALERTS!!!

Please be advised that the Ohio Department of Transportation along with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission have recently released grant funding dollars to the Village of Lewisburg for much needed repairs to State Route 503/Commerce Street.

The Scope of Work will start around Front Street and conclude at Clay Street and consist of full-depth repair to the areas of pavement failure with a surface coat of new asphalt. Although there will be no street closures, traffic will be maintained within the project area, and some traffic inconvenience may occur.

A second project is scheduled to begin around September 14th, funded with Ohio Public Works Commission dollars, will be the resurfacing of Main Street/Apple Valley Drive beginning at Mattis Drive with completion of the resurfacing at the end of Apple Valley Drive. No parking signs to notify residents along the project area will be erected prior to the resurfacing.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE:

Please be advised that the Village of Lewisburg Service Department will be replacing the concrete pavement at the corner of State Route 503 and West North Water Street. Construction efforts will begin on Monday, April 27th, and last until the necessary repairs are completed. If you have any questions regarding the construction project, please do not hesitate to contact the Village Office. Thank you for your attention to this message as the Village of Lewisburg commences on a busy construction season within the community.

Tuesday’s Refuse Route will be on Wednesday

Wednesday’s Recycling Route will be on Thursday

Thursday’s Refuse Route will be on Friday

As residents may already be aware, the Village of Lewisburg has been under an Emergency Contract with Rumpke Waste since the Village’s refuse truck was extensively damaged during an accident on September 15th, which was not the fault of the Village. The length of securing the insurance funding for repairs as well as the unknown amount of time it will take to repair the refuse truck has placed a financial burden on the Village’s Budget.

Beginning January 1, 2026, an on-going contract has been entered into with Rumpke Waste to collect the Village’s refuse and recycling. The specifications of the contract were written for residential refuse collection days to remain the same and recycling to remain on Wednesday of each week. Also, the specifications outlined that current resident owned trash toters continue to be utilized and there would be no deviation on the placement of refuse at curbside.

The Village’s Mayor and Council truly understand the importance of customer service that our residents have come accustomed to and have directed the Municipal Manager, Service Department Supervisor and Village Office Staff to make every effort to ensure a smooth and precise transition of this most important service for Village residents. We deeply appreciate your attention and understanding of this most difficult situation placed on the Village due to the damaged refuse truck, and arduous decision put on our Mayor and Village Council.

A more detailed “Welcome Letter” will be forthcoming from Rumpke Waste to all Village residents further outlining the services they will provide to the Village of Lewisburg. As this transition process is taking place, please do not hesitate to contact the Village Office with any complications that may arise with your weekly refuse and recycling pick-up.

VILLAGE OF LEWISBURG REFUSE COLLECTION HOLIDAY SCHEDULE:

Due to Christmas Day and New Years Day being on Thursdays, we will run our Thursday trash route on Friday this week (the 26th) and next week (the 2nd). The Tuesday trash route and Wednesday recycling route will run as usual.

The Village of Lewisburg’s Thursday Refuse Service Route will operate on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. Please place your refuse at the curb on Wednesday evening as the route will begin early Thursday morning due to the Preble County Landfill’s operation schedule for that day.
