WOMAN CHARGED WITH FELONY BATTERY ON AN OFFICER AND RESIST AND OBSTRUCT, FOUND GUILTY AFTER ONE DAY JURY TRIAL

Crystal M. Teal, 41 of Clarkston, Washington was found guilty by a Jury on September 17, 2026 for Battery Upon Certain Personnel and Resisting or Obstructing Officers.

On the evening of November 21, 2025, the Lewiston Police Department responded to a call of suspicious circumstances in downtown Lewiston. An officer responded and located individuals, including Teal, possibly involved in the call and attempted to talk to them about it. The defendant then hit the officer and continued to fight with him by hitting him again, pushing, and grabbing him. Once eventually detained by two officers, she was uncooperative and resisted arrest.

Teal is facing up to five years imprisonment and/or a $50,000 fine for the Battery Upon Certain Personnel and up to one year and/or a $1,000 fine for the Resisting or Obstructing Officers. Her sentencing is scheduled for December 2, 2026.

“Battery upon law enforcement and resisting or obstructing is a serious matter that can put the officer, bystanders, and other persons involved at greater risk while also limiting officers’ ability to perform their duties,“ said Elected Prosecutor Justin Coleman. “Officers are entitled to do their job without being subjected to physical attacks and respecting that boundary helps promote safety and accountability in our community. I would like to specially thank Deputy Prosecutor Emily Snyder who understood the importance of this case and worked hard to get the conviction,” Coleman said.
