Did you make it to the bubble pit last weekend in the Town of Greene, Maine? ๐Ÿซง๐Ÿ‘€

Last Saturday, the Greene Fire Department brought the community together for a Touch-A-Truck event celebrating National Fire Prevention Week, and we had a blast joining them!

The turnout was great, and the event was packed with excitement:

๐Ÿงฏ Smoke house demos
๐Ÿš’ Exploring the fire trucks and rescue equipment
๐Ÿค Thrilling rubber duck races
๐Ÿซง A sudsy bubble pit (โ€ฆtotal hit!)
๐ŸŒญ And the BEST hot dogs and chili around

Greene may already have a few future firefighters and EMTs in the making! ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿš’

Our team and several of our amazing Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers enjoyed connecting with families and sharing emergency preparedness information. We loved seeing local heroes take the time to show kids their equipment, demonstrate their skills, and spark a little inspiration along the way.

A huge THANK YOU to the Greene Fire Department for inviting us, the Greene Fire Department Auxiliary for making the day so special, and Jimmy Simone of Simones' Hot Dog Stand for keeping everyone fed with the best hot dogs and chili you can find! ๐ŸŒญ

Thank you, Greene, for a wonderful day and for reminding us that building a safer community can be a whole lot of fun! โค๏ธ

๐Ÿฉบ ONE DAY WASN'T ENOUGH. THAT'S WHY IT'S A WHOLE WEEK. ๐Ÿฉบ
The Emergency Nurses Association established Emergency Nurses Day in 1989 and expanded the recognition to an entire week in 2001 to better honor emergency nurses and their contributions.

Today, October 14, is Emergency Nurses Dayโ€”a special day during a full week dedicated to celebrating these incredible professionals! ๐Ÿ’™

Emergency nurses do more than treat injuries and illnesses. They:
โ€ข Offer reassurance when fear takes over
โ€ข Bring calm to moments of chaos
โ€ข Care for people who may be experiencing one of the hardest days of their lives

Your compassion, dedication, and commitment to caring for others do not go unnoticed. Today, we celebrate you and the difference you make in the lives of your patients and their families.

Join us in recognizing the emergency nurses who care for our communities when it matters most.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO. HAPPY EMERGENCY NURSES DAY! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšš FROM THE BASEMENT TO LISBON STREET โ€” ITโ€™S MOVING DAY! ๐Ÿšš
Yesterday, after decades operating out of the basement of Central Fire Station, Androscoggin County Emergency Management Agency officially headed to our new home at 1450 Lisbon Street in Lewiston.

Many of you may recognize the building as the former home of Maine Public (PBS), who are relocating to a beautiful new facility in Portland.

Our new home will become a multi-use public safety building for Androscoggin County, eventually bringing together ACEMA, Androscoggin County Sheriffโ€™s Office Personnel, and County Dispatch under one roof.

For ACEMA, this next chapter means:

๐Ÿ“ A more convenient and accessible location
๐Ÿ“ฆ Room to grow
๐ŸŽ“ More space for training opportunities
๐Ÿšจ A dedicated home for our Emergency Operations Center

And thereโ€™s a bonus to this move: our friends at the Lewiston Fire Department will gain some much-needed additional office and training space back at Central Fire Station.

We also want to extend our sincere thanks to the Androscoggin County Commissioners. Their support and commitment to our agency made this move possible, and we are incredibly grateful for their investment in ACEMA and the future of public safety in our county. This is more than a new space for our team โ€” itโ€™s an opportunity to grow, strengthen our capabilities, and better serve the communities that depend on us.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Also, a huge THANK YOU to Gordon's Moving for helping us make it happen! Their team worked very hard on this challenging move, and because of them, it went flawlessly. ๐Ÿ“ฆ

New home. New chapter. Same mission: Serving Androscoggin County. ๐Ÿ’™

PREPAREDNESS CAN BE TOUGH. SUPPORT MATTERS.
We were excited to partner with Gather to Grow in Lewiston last week for an active assailant training designed to help their team prepare for an unthinkable situation.

A huge THANK YOU to Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency Director Phil Davis for assisting us with leading the training โ€” and for bringing along his partner, Chaos, Maineโ€™s only Crisis Response Canine. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ•

This was serious and potentially emotional training that quite possibly hit close to home for some in attendance.

Chaos was more than happy to provide a little comfort and plenty of smiles after the training. Judging by these photos, he was right where he wanted to be and where he was needed most. โค๏ธ

Thank you to Gather to Grow for prioritizing preparedness and taking the time to train together.
