Dumping unwanted medicine down toilets and drains, or throwing them in the trash, puts those harmful chemicals directly into our environment! By disposing of them properly, such as at an approved medicine takeback event (coming up on Saturday, October 24th!), you can help us keep our environment and water sources safe from harm. Learn more about collections at https://www.dea.gov/takebackday

Last month, UTRWD’s Water Reclamation Operations Supervisor, Joe Thompson, shared his industry knowledge to help film the The Water Environment Association of Texas' Basic Water Reclamation training video. Joe talked about solids handling, a key part of how wastewater is treated. The video is designed for high school students exploring careers in the water reclamation industry, as well as and for anyone working toward their entry-level operator’s license. We're proud to help prepare the next generation of water professionals. 💧

North Texas is growing fast! Our region is expected to add over 1 million new residents by 2030. More growth means more demand on our rivers, creeks, and lakes.
That's why UTRWD works closely with the Texas Clean Rivers Program: a basin-wide effort to monitor and protect water quality across the Trinity River watershed, so the water sources our communities rely on stay healthy as North Texas grows.

It's !
Before water ever reaches your tap, our team is already on the job — collecting samples from local streams, testing water as it moves through treatment, and checking quality at every stage along the way.
You can do your part too: never dump chemicals, oil, or yard waste into storm drains or waterways; they flow straight to the streams and lakes we all rely on for our drinking water.
