On National First Responders Day, we recognize the brave and dedicated men and women who have chosen a career in public service and thank them for the long hours, hard work and dedication it takes to keep our communities safe.

Join us in congratulating our Employee of the Quarter, Corporal Morgan Walsh with Lexington County EMS!

Morgan was nominated for Employee of the Third Quarter for her exceptional service, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to the citizens of Lexington County.

On August 18, 2026, after completing a twelve-hour shift, Corporal Walsh encountered a serious motorcycle collision involving two critically injured patients. Although off duty, she immediately provided lifesaving care, applied a tourniquet to control significant bleeding, directed bystanders, and assisted with coordinating responding personnel. She continued providing care until additional emergency personnel assumed responsibility.

Her actions were recognized by the Chapin Police Department and Lexington County Fire Service, who praised her critical role in caring for the patients. Corporal Walsh’s initiative, skill, and selfless dedication demonstrate that public service extends beyond scheduled shifts. Her actions exemplify Lexington County’s commitment to “Service Beyond Expectation” and make her highly deserving of this recognition.

Thank you for your dedicated service, Cpl. Walsh!

We are wrapping up Fire Prevention Awareness Month! 🔥

Don't Forget:

Use approved equipment: Always use the manufacturer-approved charger and cord designed specifically for your device.

Charge on hard surfaces: Place devices on hard, flat desks or tables, never on soft surfaces like beds, couches, or under pillows that trap heat.

Avoid overnight or unattended charging: Do not charge large batteries (like e-bikes, scooters, or power tools) overnight or block exit paths if a failure occurs.

Watch for warning signs: Immediately stop using and disconnect any battery that shows swelling, strange odors, excessive heat, hissing, or popping.

Certification: Purchase devices certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory like UL.
