We were thrilled to see our new Director of Education, Amanda Conway, out in the community this week at Lylburn Downing Middle School!

Amanda joined the Marshall Foundation full-time in August after four years as program coordinator for the George C. Marshall Foundation Teachers Institute, where she has worked closely with educators to bring Marshall and the history of his era into the classroom. We’re excited to have her leading the next chapter of our education work and building new connections with teachers and students here in our own community!

How did the U.S. Army know what its soldiers were experiencing during World War II? It asked them.

In this episode of Age of Marshall, Glen J. Carpenter speaks with historian Dr. Ed Gitre about The American Soldier in World War II, a major digital history project built from wartime surveys and firsthand responses from American service members.

The conversation explores morale, training, propaganda, race, gender, civilian transition, and the everyday realities of service in the Army George C. Marshall led.
