Be Ready Kentucky weather, severe weather, preparedness, response and recovery activities for all of Kentucky.

10/14/2026

Above average temperatures continue across the region tomorrow with highs forecast in the upper 80s and low 90s. Shower and thunderstorm chances exist Thursday to the north in southern IL and southwest IN with the main concerns being some strong, potentially damaging winds. Luckily we will see cooler, Fall-like temperatures Friday once the cold front passes Thursday night. These cool temperatures will continue through the weekend and into beginning of the week before we gradually warm back into the upper 70s and low 80s by mid-week.

10/14/2026

Rain chances increase from NW to SE today as a frontal boundary approaches the area, then stalls. A few thunderstorms capable of strong wind gusts and heavy rain are possible this afternoon/evening. The rain could prove excessive in places that experience multiple rounds of storms. Much cooler air moves in behind a reinforcing cold front on Friday. A frost is likely later this weekend!

10/14/2026

Showers and embedded storms are currently moving through central Kentucky. More storms are expected to develop this evening over southern Kentucky. Associated hazards include frequent lightning, heavy rainfall rates, and localized flash flooding.

10/14/2026

On and off showers and thunderstorms can be expected today through Thursday night. A few strong to severe storms are possible across the area today, and near the Interstate 64 corridor late Thursday. Breezy and much cooler conditions arrive Friday, with below normal temperatures through the weekend, especially Saturday into Saturday night.

10/14/2026

Rain chances return Wednesday afternoon and persist into Friday. Showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon through the overnight may have the capability to approach severe levels, with damaging winds the primary severe risk. Heavy rainfall may also cause localized flash flooding during this time.

10/14/2026

A primary wave of showers and embedded storms has the potential to produce heavy downpours. With this potential comes the threat of localized flash flooding. Widespread amounts of 0.5-1.5" are expected although isolated totals of 2-5" are possible highlighted in yellow. Within the white region exists another area to watch for these isolated higher totals, although confidence is lower there. Take care and enjoy the rain!

10/14/2026

Slow moving front will bring widespread rainfall of 0.5" - 1.0" across the area with localized 2"-4" possible. Heaviest rainfall will likely occur with the strong storms Wednesday afternoon/evening.

10/13/2026

Rain chances return late Tuesday night through Thursday night. While some beneficial rainfall is likely (especially for northern portions of the region), it looks like some areas may struggle to see much (particularly close the Kentucky/Tennessee border).

10/13/2026

This coming weekend looks amazing with much cooler fall-like temperatures expected! There is even a possibility of some patchy frost for some of us Sunday morning.
