We have been spending a lot of our time advocating for the 1915 (c) waivers. The Medicaid Waiver programs are lifelines that help over 20,000 Kentuckians with disabilities live a safe life in their home and in their community. We are coming to you today to ask for your help too. We have been informed that we are facing a 4% funding cut.

The rate decrease may sound small, but the impact is enormous. These cuts will affect far more than agencies like ours. They will affect real people, real families, real children, real adults with disabilities, employees, medical providers, and so many support services that help families keep individuals safe and stable.

These programs matter. They keep families together, support independence, prevent institutionalization, and allow individuals with disabilities to live with dignity in their communities.

K APP has shared clear, simple advocacy resources that make it easy for families, guardians, staff, and community members to speak up. It truly is as simple as copy and paste.

Contact the Governor’s Office

Message: “Please do not make cuts to 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver reimbursement rates. The 4% reimbursement rate cut will destroy Kentucky's 1915(c) waiver programs. Waiver services support more than 20,000 vulnerable Kentuckians. The 4% rate reduction will put services, providers, and individuals at risk. Please save our 1915(c) waiver services!”

Subject: Please Intervene: Kentuckians with Disabilities Need Your Help

Message: “I respectfully ask the Attorney General to review the cuts announced by the Governor to Kentucky's 1915(c) Medicaid waiver programs and take any appropriate action to protect Kentuckians with disabilities. These vital services help individuals live safely in their homes and communities, avoiding costly institutional care. Reductions in waiver funding threaten access to essential supports and place vulnerable Kentuckians at risk. I ask for your assistance in ensuring these critical services remain available to those who depend on them.”

Today, we enjoyed Sowing the Seeds Coffee Dirty Soda stand right in our day program for our participants, and it was honestly the best part of our whole day.

The participants hand-crafted their soda, adding glitter, lights, and fun candies into their drinks. We felt like we had a little pop-up party. Our participants were smiling, our staff was excited, and the whole place just felt brighter.
