The Holmes county Sheriff’s Department department extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Deputy Terrian Bailey, as well as the entire Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, following his death in the line of duty.

The loss of an officer is felt far beyond one department or one community. During this incredibly difficult time, we stand with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department and offer our support as they mourn Deputy Bailey.

We honor Deputy Bailey’s service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others.

The Lexington Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are seeking the public's assistance in locating Charles Ferguson Jr., who has been charged with murder and drive-by shooting in connection with an incident that occurred on March 10, 2026, within the city limits of Holmes County, Lexington, Mississippi. Charles Ferguson Jr. is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Charles Ferguson Jr., you are encouraged to call the Holmes County Sheriff Department Crime Stoppers at (662) 834-0099 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Tip line at 1-888-8CRIMES (1-888-827-4637).

The Holmes County Sheriff Department is asking the public for assistance in Locating Markeal Williams aka Markelle Willliams who has Active Warrant(s) on the Charges of Aggravated Assault, Possession of fi***rm by a convicted felon. The Mississippi Department of Corrections has a active warrant for absconding for Mr. Williams as well.
