Athens-Chilesburg Elementary Athens-Chilesburg Elementary Athens School was originally a two-room school in Lexington located at 6270 Athens-Walnut Hill Road.

In 1912, a four-room building was constructed to house grades first-twelfth. In 1927, a new high school was constructed across the street and the other building was used for elementary students. An addition was built onto the high school in 1967. The following year the high school was converted to an elementary school and the original four-room structure was torn down. In 2006, Athens Elementary closed its doors to move to a new location at 930 Jouett Creek Drive. The name of the school also acquired the Chilesburg community name and was renamed Athens-Chilesburg Elementary which we many times refer to as ACE. Today, we serve as a Kindergarten-Fifth Grade school for over 800 children.

💙💛 FOUR YEARS IN A ROW! 💛💙

Athens-Chilesburg Elementary has earned BLUE, the highest Distinguished rating on KSA, for the fourth consecutive year! We are incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement for 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026!

Our ACE Eagles continue to soar! This year, our combined Reading and Math Index increased from 86.4 to 95.5, a gain of 9.1 points! Our Climate and Culture Survey score also rose from 75.4 to 85.2, an increase of 9.8 points!

While one assessment will never capture everything that makes ACE special, these results reflect the hard work, dedication, and care found throughout our school each day.

To our amazing staff, hardworking students, supportive families, and wonderful community, THANK YOU! This is a collective effort, and every person plays a part in our success. We are so grateful to be part of the ACE family! 🦅💙💛

A big thank-you to Mr. Crisp for partnering with Lexington Fayette Urban Co Gov Bike and Scooter Safety Program and to all of our parent volunteers for helping make it happen!

The ACE eStore opened for the FIRST time today, and our students were ready to shop! They spent the eBucks they earned for great behavior, played and WON on the claw machine, and entered raffles for some really cool prizes. We’ll draw the raffle winners on Friday!

We loved seeing all the excitement and big smiles! If you didn’t get to shop today, your turn is tomorrow!
