🧥❄️ WE NEED YOUR HELP, LEXINGTON! ❄️🧥

The Lexington Fire Ladies Auxiliary is gearing up for our Community Coat Drive, November 1st–30th! ❤️

We are looking for additional local businesses and locations willing to let us place a coat donation box at their establishment throughout the month of November!

Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for community members to donate and help keep those in need warm this winter. ❤️

We are accepting new and gently used coats, jackets, hoodies, hats, gloves, and scarves in ALL sizes, from children to adults!

📍 Current Drop-Off Locations:

- Lexington City Hall – 111 W. Broadway
- Coles Plant Farm – 230 W. Center St.

📢 Do you own or manage a local business, or know somewhere that would be willing to host a donation box? Please comment below or send our page a message!

Every additional location helps us reach more people and collect more donations for those in need.

Thank you for helping us keep our community warm, one coat at a time! 🩷🧥

🌧️ Is your yard holding water? Check your drainage!

The City of Lexington has been working to improve water flow by removing debris from creeks, ditches, and drainage systems throughout our community. You can help keep that water moving by maintaining drainage around your property!

Leaves, grass clippings, trash, and branches can block ditches and driveway culverts, causing water to back up into yards, driveways, and around homes.

✅ Clear debris from driveway culvert openings when conditions are dry and safe.
✅ Keep grass clippings, leaves, limbs, and trash out of ditches and creeks.
✅ Check for damaged or collapsed culverts that may need repair.
✅ Keep gutters and downspouts clear and direct runoff away from your foundation.
✅ Report blocked public drainage or damaged culverts to the City. Contact the City before digging or changing a roadside ditch or culvert.

⚠️ Never enter a flooded ditch or attempt to clear a culvert while water is rushing through it.

Drainage is a community effort. Help us keep water flowing while protecting your home and your neighbors! 🧡🖤

🚒⛈️ LEXINGTON — TONIGHT’S WEATHER
Wednesday, October 14

Lexington and surrounding areas should stay weather aware this evening and overnight. Additional rounds of thunderstorms are possible through Thursday morning. Stronger storms could bring damaging winds, hail, and a tornado risk, along with heavy rain and flooding.

✅ Charge your phones and keep emergency alerts turned on.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially while sleeping.
✅ Know your shelter location and be ready to move if a warning is issued.
✅ Secure loose outdoor items and bring pets inside.
✅ Never drive around barricades or into flooded roads. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Storm timing and conditions can change. Follow NWS Norman and local weather coverage for the latest information. Do not rely on outdoor sirens to wake you indoors.

🚒📚 A busy day connecting with Lexington’s students!

Today started with Fire Safety Day at the elementary school, sharing fire safety lessons and helping our youngest Bulldogs learn how to stay safe in an emergency. 🔥🧯

Then it was on to Career Day at the high school, where we had the opportunity to talk with students about the fire service, volunteering, and what it means to serve your community.

From teaching safety to inspiring future firefighters, we’re proud to be part of these students’ day! Thank you to Lexington Public Schools, the teachers, staff, and students for welcoming us and making time for these important conversations. 🧡🖤

🐾 GIBBY IS HOME! 🐾

We’re happy to share that Gibby has been reunited with her owners! ❤️🏡

A huge THANK YOU to Lexington Animal Welfare Society-LAWS and P.A.W.S. out of Pauls Valley for their generous donation of the animal microchip reader. Because of this equipment, we were able to scan Gibby’s microchip and help get her one step closer to home.

We would also like to thank the Lexington Police for their assistance in helping reunite Gibby with her owners!

This is a perfect example of how community partnerships and donated equipment can make a real difference.
