The Kootenai Development Impoundment Dam (KDID) is a 135-foot earthen structure located on OU3 and designed to store tailings from mine operations. Built between 1971 and 1992, the dam includes engineered drainage and spillway systems to support long-term stability.
Today, a major, privately funded, $200 million upgrade project is underway, representing a significant investment in strengthening the dam’s safety, performance, and long-term reliability.

We're working on documenting the murals throughout our community for submission to the Montana Department of Commerce, and we'd love your help!

While we have most of the artists identified, we're hoping to learn more about the history behind each mural. When were they painted? What's the story behind them? Who helped bring them to life?
