💰 “You won the lottery!”
We want everyone to talk with their parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors about this scam.
Recently, we were able to intervene before two victims shipped $45,000 and $30,000 to scammers.
In one case, the victim was told they had won a lottery in another country and needed to pay taxes before they could receive their winnings. The scammers then instructed them to withdraw large amounts of cash and ship it overnight.
Scammers are very good at creating excitement, fear, and urgency. They may also tell victims not to speak with family members, bank employees, or police.
Those are major warning signs. ⚠️
If you are told you won money but must first send thousands of dollars in cash, do not send it!
Call us. Call your bank. Call someone you trust.
A five-minute conversation could save someone tens of thousands of dollars.
