HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY, Liberty Fire Department Explorer Addilyn!

Join us in wishing Addilyn a very happy 16th birthday!

You might say Addilyn was born into the fire service! As the daughter of Liberty Fire Department Chief Talbott, she has spent the last 12 years being her dad’s partner at the fire station. From snowstorms and severe weather to a hurricane that required her to spend several nights at the station, Addilyn has experienced firsthand what it means to be part of the fire service family.

Over the years, the lessons she has learned at the fire department, along with her compassion, dedication, and commitment to serving others, have helped prepare her for her true calling — nursing! 🩺

Today, we celebrate not only her 16th birthday but also the young woman she is becoming. Her journey is a wonderful reminder that a life of service can begin at an early age, and that the values learned in the fire service can carry over into many other professions.

From your Liberty Fire Department family, we wish you a fantastic 16th birthday filled with happiness, laughter, and wonderful memories. We are proud of you and look forward to seeing all the amazing things your future holds!

Happy Birthday, Addilyn! Once a part of the fire service family, always a part of the family!

Kimesville Fire Rescue and Liberty Fire participated in multi company training.

During this week’s training night, firefighters had the opportunity to work in an abandoned house, allowing us to practice realistic fireground operations in a controlled environment. Crews trained while wearing full turnout gear, SCBA air packs, and face masks, navigating through simulated smoke conditions that reduced visibility and challenged firefighters to rely on their training, teamwork, and equipment.

We had an unusual call this evening at Liberty Fire Department. A very small local resident got her paw stuck in a metal grate. Not knowing what to do, they came to the fire station. C-shift diligently and carefully got the patients furry paw extricated.

Fire Prevention Week at
Toyota Tsusho Logistics Center Liberty

Toyota provided lunch for our firefighters during Fire Prevention Week. After lunch, we had the opportunity to discuss lithium battery safety.

Firefighters also gave an apparatus tour and provided portable fire extinguisher training, helping participants learn more about fire safety and how to respond in an emergency.

A special thank-you to Toyota for your hospitality and to Travis Kivett—State Farm Insurance—for providing the lithium battery safety materials!

As part of Fire Prevention Week, firefighters from Liberty Fire Department, Kimesville Fire & Rescue, Staley Fire Department, and Julian Fire Department participated in a school-wide fire drill at Liberty Elementary School.

Following the evacuation and accountability check, firefighters conducted a search of the school to reinforce the importance of emergency procedures and fire safety preparedness. Students then had the opportunity to tour the fire apparatus, learn about firefighting equipment, and interact with firefighters from the participating departments.

Events like these help students become more familiar with firefighters and teach valuable lessons about fire safety, emergency preparedness, and what to do when an alarm sounds. We appreciate the partnership of Liberty Elementary School and the support of all the departments that helped make this educational event a success.
