Judge Riko Bishop welcomed Cornhusker Girls State participants to the Nebraska Court of Appeals on Thursday afternoon.
Judge Bishop, a former Girls State participant, talked to the group about the Judicial Branch’s commitment to civic and law-related education as well as explaining the court system and inspiring future generations to pursue careers in law.

A swearing-in ceremony for Yuri Cole as Clerk Magistrate of the Keith County Court and Arthur County Court was held April 30, 2026, in the Keith County Courthouse in Ogallala, Nebraska. Judge Joel Jay officiated the ceremony. State Court Administrator Corey Steel reflected on the importance of the role of clerk magistrate to the courts they serve, the Judicial Branch, and the communities at large. Douglas County Juvenile Court Judge Vernon Daniels has announced his retirement effective December 31.
His 25 year career leaves a legacy of service, including being honored with a Distinguished Judge Award by the Supreme Court in 2021.
