💦Water Safety Month is here! 💦
As summer swim season approaches, now is the perfect time for families to be water smart. Did you know that research shows formal water safety and swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% for children ages 1–4? 🏊♀️
You can register for swim lessons with the City of Lincoln with this link www.lincolnrec.net
This summer, keep these four water safety tips in mind to help protect those you love ❤:
✅ Never leave young children unattended near water—and never rely on another child to supervise.
✅Designate a “water watcher” to give constant, focused attention to children and weaker swimmers until someone else officially takes over.
✅Use properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets for young or inexperienced swimmers—but remember, life jackets are not a substitute for supervision.
✅Reach or throw, don’t go! In an emergency, reach or throw an object to help someone in trouble and have them grab on—don’t enter the water yourself.
Here are more helpful tips to improve water safety 🛟:
Stay hydrated and take breaks
Swim near lifeguards
Know your water: pool vs ocean
Wear brightly colored bathing suits
Feet first water entry
Life jackets save lives
Observe signs & flags
Let’s help prevent drownings before they happen.
