Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen announced his office has begun mailing early vote ballots for the November 3rd Statewide General Election. Every voter who submitted a valid early vote ballot request through last Friday should receive their ballots by the end of this week.
The election commission received and processed over 34,000 early vote ballot requests. It has been unable to process 360 requests. Most of these voters either forgot to sign or complete the voter identification portion of the request. These voters have been notified of the deficiency in writing with instructions to correct it.
Voters may check the status of their early vote ballot on the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Voter View website at: https://www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov/voterview/
Also starting today, Lancaster County voters may pick up an early vote ballot for the Statewide General Election at the Election Commission. In-person voting will begin next Monday, October 5th.
Election Commission office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Extended office hours are listed below:
Friday, October 23rd 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Tuesday, October 27th 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Thursday, October 29th 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday, October 31st 9:00 AM to Noon
Monday, November 2nd 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
State law permits any registered voter to cast an early ballot. However, voters must request that ballot in writing. An early vote request form is available on the Election Commission’s website at: lancaster.ne.gov/election. Voters may also contact the Election Commission Office by calling (402) 441-7311 or emailing [email protected] and the office will mail an application to them.
The deadline for voters to request an early vote ballot by mail for the November 3rd Statewide General Election is 6:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd.
Early vote ballots must be returned to the Election Commission in the self-addressed envelope enclosed with their ballot by mail or by dropping them off in one of the secure drop boxes listed below:

By law, early vote ballot envelopes must be signed and received by the Election Commission by 8:00 PM on the General Election Day Tuesday, November 3rd.
Commissioner Wiltgen reminds the public the penalty for election falsification is imprisonment for up to two years and twelve months post-release supervision, a fine not to exceed $10,000, or both.
