KKF responds to petition signature announcement:

Our focus has always been on giving Nebraska families the opportunity to choose the right education for their children to grow and reach their potential. We are just as determined today as we were yesterday to help students struggling in a traditional education setting.

The Opportunity Scholarships Act creates a tax credit scholarship program for students from lower-income families, students with special needs, students who experience bullying, students from military families, students in foster care, and students who are denied option enrollment at a public school. The program will be effective in 2024, but a repeal will take this new hope and opportunity away from families and students who need it the most.

The teachers union was willing to say and do anything to take educational freedom away from Nebraska families, so it is no surprise they gathered enough petition signatures to qualify for the ballot. Support Our Schools made a mockery of the signature petition process by consistently misleading and misinforming Nebraskans about the Opportunity Scholarships Act and the intent of their petition drive. The evidence of their misinformation campaign throughout the summer was overwhelming, and Nebraskans deserve better.
