46 PEOPLE. ONE ALERT. ONE COMMUNITY READY TO HELP.

Yesterday, October 14, a cardiac emergency near Nebraska Medical Center triggered a PulsePoint CPR Needed alert.

Within moments, 46 registered PulsePoint responders in the surrounding area received a notification that someone nearby needed help.

Think about that.

46 people who had taken the step to register as potential lifesavers. 46 people who could be alerted when every second matters.
This is what community preparedness looks like.

When PulsePoint launched across Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington Counties earlier this year, it was about more than introducing a new app. It was about building a community of people ready to step forward when someone needs them most.

Our regional hospital partners have been instrumental in making that vision a reality, providing financial support, educating employees, and encouraging the public to become PulsePoint responders.

Today, we want to give a special shoutout to Nebraska Medicine!

Their commitment to building awareness and encouraging participation is helping create a stronger, more prepared community.

And here's the best part: You don't have to work in healthcare to be part of it.

Whether you're a teacher, a construction worker, a college student, or simply someone who wants to help a neighbor, you can be part of this lifesaving network.

READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Download the FREE PulsePoint Respond app, enable CPR alerts, and help us build a community where someone in cardiac arrest has the greatest possible chance of receiving help quickly.

Because when seconds matter, having someone nearby who's ready to help can make all the difference.

Thank you, Nebraska Medicine, and all of our regional partners for helping make our communities safer.

❤️Looking for New Donors! Thank you to the return donors who continue to save lives!

One patient. One medical emergency. 51 units of O-negative blood requested.

O-negative blood is already in critically short supply. Then came an emergency request: 51 units of O-negative blood, including specially matched units.

This is why blood donation cannot wait until an emergency happens. The blood needs to be on the shelf before it's needed.

If you’re an O negative or O positive donor, we need you. Your donation today can help ensure blood is ready for the next patient who needs it.

🩸 Roll up your sleeve. Donate now.

During Cardiac Awareness Month, Lincoln Fire & Rescue is highlighting what it takes to give someone the best chance of surviving cardiac arrest.

In 2025, the City of Lincoln's cardiac survival rate was 68%, compared with the national average of 33%. Doubling the national cardiac survival rate is the result of an entire system working together, from early recognition and bystander CPR to 911 Emergency Communications, first responders, medical direction, and care at area hospitals.

Awareness is often the key to a positive outcome. Knowing how to recognize cardiac arrest, call 911, perform CPR, and use an AED can help give our crews a stronger start when every second matters.
