Thank you, Nye Legacy!

NSEA Director of Advocacy Jason Wiese recently accepted a generous donation from Nye Legacy in Fremont to benefit the NSEA Children’s Fund.

The donation was part of Nye Legacy’s “Give Like Dolly Day” celebration on Sept. 25, inspired by Dolly Parton’s commitment to children and literacy. Guests, families and team members were invited to share a special meal, donate children’s books and help raise funds for the Children’s Fund.

We’re grateful to everyone at Nye Legacy for turning a celebration of reading and giving into support for Nebraska students and families.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!

Find out more about the Children's Fund at www.nsea.org/childrensfund.

While subcontracting is often presented as a solution to staffing shortages or budget pressures, members were asking different questions: What protections do employees have? What does it actually save? And what could it mean for students?

Subcontracting can look like a simple solution on paper, but local associations need to look beyond the initial price tag.

Congratulations to NSEA member Sheryl Norman!

Sheryl, a fourth-grade educator at Palmer Public Schools, has been named a recipient of the 2027 Travelers Insurance Awards for Teaching Excellence by The NEA Foundation!

Sheryl is one of just 43 public school educators from across the country being recognized for excellence in the classroom, leadership in the teaching profession, community engagement and commitment to expanding opportunities for students through public education.

She’ll be honored at The NEA Foundation’s Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in Washington, D.C., in February.

Congratulations, Sheryl, on this well-deserved national recognition! Nebraska educators are doing incredible things every day, and we’re proud to see one of our own celebrated on the national stage.
