Will we see you in the George W. Norris Legislative Chamber this June? Join us and Big Red Summer Camps for a weeklong legislative simulation at the State Capitol, June 7-12! Our program is open to all high school students and is a hands-on opportunity to learn about the legislative process from senators and staff.

And just like that, we're adjourned sine die (until next year). It was a great end to a busy week at the Capitol! Student senator worked through the last two rounds of debate, including a couple of unexpected veto override attempts, had lunch with the Clerk of the Legislature and heard from Sen. John Fredrickson, who was gracious enough to stay and serve briefly as our presiding officer.

We're sad to see camp come to an end, but we're already thinking about ways to make the experience even better in 2026. See you next year, senators! ❤️

Day three of camp was jam packed! Student senators worked their way through two sessions of first-round debate in the George W. Norris Legislative Chamber, heard from Sen. Bob Hallstrom and learned about the Legislative Page Program.

Being a student senator is a lot of work — just like the real thing — but our group is doing an amazing job and having a great time!

Another full day at camp! We learned about the committee process from Judiciary Committee chairperson Sen. Carolyn Bosn, had lunch in the beautiful Capitol courtyards, held public hearings on 10 bills and, lastly, heard about careers in the Legislature and the experiences of former student senators. Next up, floor debate!

We had a great first day of camp! Students were welcomed to the Capitol by staff and Sen. George Dungan, had lunch at the Governor's Mansion with Gov. Jim Pillen and started learning about the legislative process!

Is everyone ready for the 2025 Unicameral Youth Legislature? Can't wait to meet the new class of student senators tomorrow!
