What does LPSNRD do?
Our new animated explainer video gives a quick look at who we are, what we do, and how natural resources districts help protect lives, property, and natural resources across Nebraska.
From flood control and trails to groundwater, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and conservation programs, LPSNRD works every day to serve communities across our district.

Nothing like exploring Marsh Wren Saline Wetland with your dog by your side!
Thanks to Marc Walter for sharing this Recreation Exploration stop. We love seeing visitors enjoying LPSNRD recreation areas, trails, lakes, and wildlife management areas throughout the season.

Meet Sophie and Donovan, two of LPSNRD’s seasonal workers!
Sophie recently graduated from UNL with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Sustainability Studies, with an emphasis in Natural Resources. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in an environmental field in the future. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys fishing and camping. One of her favorite experiences so far has been a birding day with Nebraska Game and Parks, where the group identified 61 bird species while exploring the Marsh Wren property.
Donovan recently graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a degree in Biology and plans to pursue a master’s degree in Wildlife Biology through the School of Natural Resources. His favorite outdoor activities include birding and hiking. So far, one of his favorite projects has been assisting with the Salt Creek tiger beetle release.
We’re grateful to have Sophie and Donovan helping with important field work across the District this season!

The MoPac East Trail will reach an important milestone on Monday, June 1, as construction officially begins!
Survey crews from JEO Consulting Group will first stake the trail alignment and culvert locations. Nebraska Digging Services will then begin culvert installation, followed by grading and trail construction.
Additional project updates will continue to be shared throughout construction.
