A few more views of the IAB in its later years, after it was left to deteriorate. Does anyone have photos to share from its glory days?
The historic Industrial Arts Building has been saved from total demolition due to the efforts of concerned citizens.
The Industrial Arts Building, built in 1913 as Agricultural Hall, is still standing after one hundred years! This historic and unique structure, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, enters into its second century facing a major renovation.

A look back at some of the interior that was lost when the university redid the IAB. Glad to have saved most of the exterior, but it was sad to lose the mezzanine and intricate support structures inside.

When they do this to a building, you wonder why it's called preservation. While the building exterior is saved, it's stately presence is covered up and lost to sight, using a jarring modern addition.

Hats off to the preservation folks in Omaha who are trying to save this old Chevrolet dealership at 18th and Harney downtown. It was part of the historic "Auto Row" on Farnam and Harney. The county wants to tear it down to build a youth detention/rehabilitation center. Gee, do you think they could fit that use in the old building? I know a ton of creative people who could make that happen!

Every time NIC talks about what types of amenities they could have, one thinks of how the IAB could have been used to create a unique place: maker space, startup space, meeting rooms, restaurant, fitness center, a combination of things - with that mezzanine level, the soaring trusses, a skylight.... *sigh*

New Innovation Campus building on track for September completion Construction of a three-story, 80,000-square-foot modern office building at Nebraska Innovation Campus is “on time and on budget,” a project manager said.

Construction begins on newest Nebraska Innovation Campus building The three-story structure will feature a planned business incubator and will contain common spaces built to spur collaboration. Area around the building will include a community garden and space for outdoor activities.

The Mill Coffee & Bistro to open at Nebraska Innovation Campus The new shop will feature The Mill’s signature coffees and teas as well as an expanded food menu of breakfast items, lunch items, small plates, snacks, wine and beer.
