Today, members of the Lincoln Police Department were proud to once again participate in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run hosted at the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Three of our officers took part in the event alongside law enforcement personnel from agencies throughout the region and Special Olympics athletes, helping carry the Flame of Hope in support of Special Olympics Northern California.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an annual event that brings together officers, athletes, and community members to raise awareness and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities through the programs and opportunities provided by Special Olympics.

We are honored to once again be a part of the event that represents teamwork and community partnership. Thank you to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for hosting today’s run and to everyone who came out to support such an incredible cause.

Golf Cart & NEV Reminder for Lincoln Residents

It’s that time of year again where we are seeing more more residents head out in golf carts and Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs). We would like to remind everyone of the laws and safety requirements for operating these vehicles on public roadways.

🛺 Golf carts may NOT be driven on public roadways outside of the Del Webb / Sun City Lincoln Hills community unless the roadway is specifically authorized on the City of Lincoln Golf Cart Transportation Plan map.

Many people mistakenly believe golf carts and NEVs are the same thing however they are not.

Here are a few important reminders for BOTH golf carts and NEVs operating on approved public roadways:
✔ Operators must have a valid California driver’s license
✔ Vehicles must have valid insurance covering operation on public roads
✔ Seatbelts must be worn by ALL occupants at all times
✔ Fold-down or split windshields may NOT be operated in the folded-down position on public roads
✔ All required safety equipment must be installed and operational

Additional requirements:
🛺 Golf Carts:
• Must display a valid City of Lincoln golf cart permit
• May only operate on approved roadways identified in the transportation plan

⚡ NEVs (Neighborhood Electric Vehicles):
• Must be DMV registered
• Must display valid license plates on BOTH the front and rear of the vehicle

Our goal is education and safety for everyone using our roadways. Please help us keep the community safe by ensuring your NEV or golf cart is properly equipped and operated legally.

For more information on approved golf cart and NEV routes and requirements, visit the City of Lincoln website.

🇺🇸 On this Memorial Day, we remember and honor those who sacrificed everything for our freedom. Their bravery will never be forgotten.

Earlier this month, members of the Lincoln Police Department and dedicated volunteers traveled to the East Coast to take part in the 2026 Police Unity Tour.
After months of training rides, fundraising efforts, planning, and preparing equipment to move bicycles, motorcycles, and support gear across the country, Team Lincoln PD joined thousands from across the nation for the four-day event where cyclists ride the 300-mile journey from New Jersey to Washington, D.C.

The Police Unity Tour is more than just a bike ride. It is a national movement honoring law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, while raising awareness and support for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. This year was the 30th anniversary of the tour and participants raised an incredible $2.5 million in support of that mission.

On the final day of the ride, more than 2,500 bicyclists, 400 motor officers, and hundreds of support staff made their way into the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial for the beginning of Police Week. Riders from around the country arrived together carrying the names and memories of fallen officers with them every mile of the journey.

Team Lincoln PD was proud to ride alongside officers, surviving family members, friends, and coworkers who came together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
We are grateful to everyone who supported the team through donations, encouragement, and countless hours behind the scenes to help make the trip possible.

“We ride for those who died”

Captain Eaton participated in the Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center Celebrity Waiter fundraiser event yesterday. Great event to help raise money for an organization who serves people in need.

Push-Ups were had to earn tips—with a little help from Placer County District Attorney's Office DA Morgan Gire.

Smedley Insurance Solutions was one of the main sponsors of our table.
