A new roundabout is now open at US-275 and L-28B/W Dodge Road in Omaha!

The $2.5 million project is designed to make the intersection safer and more efficient for the thousands of drivers who travel through the area each day.

The roundabout:
• Improves safety by reducing potential vehicle conflict points
• Reduces delays and helps traffic flow more efficiently
• Increases capacity to accommodate current and future traffic
• Lowers long-term operation and maintenance costs

The project also included new concrete pavement, curb inlets, storm sewer improvements and lighting updates.

Thank you to drivers and the community for your patience during construction. The improvements are now open and ready to help keep traffic moving!

This week is Teen Driver Safety Week, and it’s a great opportunity to talk with your teen about safe driving habits.

Talk about putting the phone down, avoiding distractions, following the speed limit, limiting passengers and always buckling up.

Starting these habits now can help protect their future.

Today is National Move Over Day!

When you see a stopped vehicle or vulnerable road user on the side of the road, remember to move over. If you can't safely move over, slow down.

Nebraska’s move-over law is designed to protect the people working and responding along our roadways. Do your part to give them room to do their jobs and get home safely.

As the days get shorter and it gets darker earlier, keep an eye out for deer on and near the roadway.

In 2025, the most deer-related crashes occurred between 6 and 9 p.m., with 379 crashes. he next highest numbers were between 6 and 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and midnight, with 288 crashes during each time period.

Slow down, stay alert and watch for deer, especially around dawn and dusk. If you see one, remember there may be others nearby.

Yesterday, NDOT was honored to join the Federated Garden Clubs of Nebraska for a special dedication ceremony at our westbound Sidney Rest Area, unveiling a new Blue Star Memorial to honor the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces.

This memorial continues a proud tradition of recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and service of our military members. A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of two Quilts of Valor to Nebraska veterans, including one to NDOT Aeronautics Director Jeremy Borrell.

Founded in 2003, the Quilts of Valor Foundation honors service members and veterans touched by war with handmade quilts that offer comfort, gratitude, and healing. Each recipient may receive one Quilt of Valor in their lifetime, and more than 457,000 quilts have been presented nationwide.

We’re proud to help carry on these meaningful traditions and to recognize the individuals who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.

Thank you to the Federated Garden Clubs of Nebraska, the Quilts of Valor volunteers, and everyone who helped make this special dedication possible.

With less than a month until election day, remember that political campaign signs, or any signs, are not allowed on state right-of-way. This includes intersections, medians, entrance and exit ramps, sidewalks, and the ditches and lands that make up the right-of-way bordering the length of each roadway.

NDOT maintenance crews will remove any signs that are improperly placed within the state highway right-of-way. These signs will be stored for a brief time in the maintenance yards throughout the state where the owners may reclaim them.
