Lincoln Police Explorers Post 575

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Do you know someone who's 14-20 years old and wants to learn what it takes to be a police officer? Please help us invite them to the first meeting of the year for LPD EXPLORERS POST 575. It's a free program that teaches youth about law enforcement and includes training, service, competition and practical experiences.

The first meeting will be:

• Wednesday August 23, 5-7 p.m.
• Classroom C, 575 S 10th St. (use main entrance on East side)
• Eligibility: 14 (and completed 8th grade) through 20 years old, maintain a 'C' grade average or 2.0 GPA, HS diploma or working on GED (no prior convictions for criminal offenses or serious traffic offenses)
• If under 19, parents are welcome to come to the first meeting to get more information on the program (not required)

Regular meetings will be held every other Wednesday evening for three hours, along with separate competition meetings.

REMINDER that our first meeting of the school year is Wednesday September 22nd, 6-8 PM at the Hall of Justice 575 S 10th St. Please come to the front doors, parking is usually available by the street. This will be our introduction meeting to Explorers and LPD and is a perfect first meeting for those interested!!

Explorers is open to youth 14 (and completed 8th grade) to 20 year olds interested in Law Enforcement. There is no cost; however, you must maintain a 'C' average and must not have a prior conviction for a criminal offense or serious traffic offense.

Six of our Explorers are getting the opportunity to compete this weekend with the Topeka Police Department. There are 11 events such as Active Shooter, Burglary in Progress, High Risk Traffic Stop, etc. One of our Explorers has put in 3 years of work for this weekend while the rest have worked hard for a year. Their hard work is about to pay off. Wish our Explorers luck! 🚔
