The culminating event of the Colorado Drill Meet was the E-team race. The E-team race consisted of rigorous work-outs, swim competition, casualty Evacuation long runs, A Hike up to the summit of a Mountain, and finished with the team running through a Combat Fitness Test, and squad push-ups! The E-team, consisting of MIDN 1/C Harju, 2/C Kholer, 2/C Martinez, 3/C Knudsen, 3/C Janssen, and 4/C Clark, took third place with a time of 5:42:41.

The Iron 4/C also put on a great showcase at the Colorado drill meet! This was the first year the Colorado Drill meet held an Iron 4/C competition, which consisted of Pull-ups, push-ups, burpees, and 2 laps around a soccer field with ammo cans. The team consisted of MIDN 4/C Parker, 4/C Lanahan, 4/C Kuenning, and 4/C Cowan.

Colorado Recap! The Blackshirt Battalion had a great showcase at the 30th annual Colorado Drill Meet! Our Color Guard team consisting of MIDN 1/C Henexson, 1/C Morgan, 1/C Simpson, 2/C Hill, and 4/C Castro took the first place trophy with an excellent color guard performance.

Congratulations to Staff Sergeant Taylor on receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

On February 20th, Staff Sergeant Taylor, AMOI for the Battalion, received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for outstanding dedication, leadership, and commitment to duty.

We are honored to have Staff Sergeant Taylor as the Battalion’s AMOI, as he helps train and lead future officers of the Navy and Marine Corps.

On Wednesday, February 19th, MIDN participated in an MCMAP, or Marine Corps Martial Arts Program PT run by GySgt Bennett. The MIDN learned basic combat movements, stances, and proper falling form.

On Saturday, February 8th, MIDN from the Blackshirt Battalion participated in a swim PT and completed their 3rd class swim qualifications!

From 30 JAN to 2 FEB MIDN Henexson, Thibodeau, Linhardt, and Janssen traveled to the University of Notre Dame for the Naval Leadership Weekend. During this event, MIDN had the opportunity to hear and learn from various speakers on key leadership principles. Saturday morning, MIDN Thibodeau completed a Marine PT with fellow Midshipmen from several other universities. Saturday evening, Midshipmen attended a keynote dinner featuring Rear Admiral Luke Frost and his experiences throughout his career. During this weekend, Midshipmen not only had an excellent opportunity to learn but also interact with Midshipmen and Staff from other universities.
