Meet Kelli Valentine, TK teacher at First Street School.

I grew up in Roseville and this is my 2nd year at First Street.

I got into this work because I have always loved helping children discover what they’re capable of and helping them grow.

The best part of my day is the sweet smiles on my little one’s faces when they get to school, and the moments when a student is proud of themselves and can’t wait to share it with me.

Something people might not know about me is that I did public speaking and leadership in high school, which opened doors for me to become a United Nations Student Delegate.

Outside of school you will find me cheering on my kids at soccer and baseball, at hot yoga, near the water, working on a creative project, or planning my next adventure.

Meet Christine Smith-Williams, Art Technician at First Street School.

I grew up in Auburn and this is my third year at First Street.

I got into this work because art was one of the easiest ways for me to express myself as a child. When the opportunity presented itself to help children learn art and express themselves I knew right away I wanted to do it.

The best part of my day is seeing the kids' faces light up with their finished artwork.

Something people might not know about me: I’m currently in the Speech Language Pathologist program at Sac State. I’m so excited that I can continue using art and helping children express themselves as an SLP.

Outside of school you will find me walking my dogs, eating out with friends, and going to as many movies as possible with my husband.

Meet Amanda Opperman, 2nd grade teacher at First Street School.

I grew up in Lincoln and this is my 22nd year at First Street.

I got into this work because I enjoy watching children learn new things. I especially like seeing them learn to read.

The best part of my day is doing projects with my students.

Something people might not know about me: I live in the country and have way too many animals.

Meet Rajitha Bandara, an art technician at First Street School.

I grew up in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and this is my 2nd year at First Street.

I got into this work because teaching was the dream my father held closest to his heart for me.

The best part of my day is when I’m in a classroom teaching a new art technique for my students and seeing their smiles.

Something people might not know about me: I was on the high school Badminton team and my first job was a teacher assistant in a preschool.

Outside of school you will find me at the fields watching and cheering when my sons play soccer or enjoying live music.

Meet Molly Swesey,second grade teacher at First Street School.

I grew up in Newcastle and Auburn and this is my 27th (!!!) year at First Street. I have been in Room 11 since the beginning.

I got into this work because my mom was a teacher and I have always liked working with kids.

The best part of my day is saying good morning to any student that I see in the mornings.

Something people might not know about me: I live in the house that I grew up in for the first 12 years of my life.

Outside of school you will find me watching or coaching sports, and hanging out with my niece and nephew.

Meet Ms. Arilene, School Clerk at First Street School.

I grew up in Fairfield CA and this is my 3rd year at First Street.

I got into this work because I love being able to help others in what I can. Making a difference one call at a time! And I love seeing the smiles on all the kiddos coming through the door.

The best part of my day is when my student friends come and visit me! They say,” Hi Ms.Arilene we just came to say Hi !”

Something people might not know about me is that I have moved over 20 plus times in this lifetime (not by choice lol) all over California. WHAAT?! I know it's kind of CRAZY!

Outside of school you will find me running and chasing after my 1 YR and 5 Month old baby boy Santiago (goes by Santi) and making memories while eating some good food and DANCING!!
