đźš’ GET TO KNOW YOUR LINDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT | PART 2
The Lindale Fire Department is contracted by Smith County Emergency Services District #1 (ESD #1), which is governed by five commissioners elected by the citizens they serve.
As a department, we cannot and will not endorse any candidate for ESD Commissioner. However, we strongly encourage every citizen to take the time to research the candidates, understand their positions and beliefs, and, most importantly, learn about their intentions and plans for the future of our district.
We want to take this opportunity to address questions about the department and help ensure our community understands how their local fire department operates.
đźš’ HOW ARE WE STAFFED?
The Lindale Fire Department currently operates two engine companies staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with at least three personnel assigned to each engine at all times. This ensures trained personnel are available around the clock to respond when our citizens need us.
🤝 SERVING BEYOND OUR DISTRICT
Our commitment to protecting lives and property doesn’t stop at the boundaries of ESD #1. The Lindale Fire Department provides mutual aid to neighboring fire departments and emergency service agencies on an almost daily basis.
Whether assisting with structure fires, vehicle accidents, wildland fires, or other emergencies, our personnel stand ready to help neighboring communities when they need additional resources.
Emergency services are built on teamwork, cooperation, and mutual support. We are proud to work alongside our neighboring agencies and remain committed to helping protect not only the citizens of ESD #1, but also the surrounding communities we are honored to serve alongside.
🏗️ WHAT’S NEXT FOR OUR DISTRICT?
Smith County ESD #1 is preparing to begin construction on Fire Station No. 4. As this project moves forward, the department is actively working on plans to staff the new station and expand our ability to serve the growing needs of our community.
Once Fire Station No. 4 is operational, the department will begin working on plans to remodel or rebuild our central fire station in town. These projects are part of the ongoing effort to improve our facilities, support our firefighters, and ensure our department is prepared to meet the future needs of the citizens we serve.
👨‍🚒 WHO SERVES ON OUR SHIFTS?
Personnel assigned to shift duty must meet the department’s required certification and training standards. Our firefighters hold certifications through recognized programs, including Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certifications or equivalent SFFMA certifications, as applicable to their positions.
In addition to their fire service training, department personnel also hold Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) or Paramedic certifications. This additional medical training helps ensure our personnel are equipped to respond to a wide range of emergencies and provide care to citizens when they need it most.
Our commitment to ongoing training and professional development helps us maintain a qualified workforce capable of meeting the needs of our community.
🤝 WHAT MAKES OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM UNIQUE?
Our volunteer program is a major asset to this department. We are proud to have a dedicated group of trained and certified firefighters who support our staffed engine companies and help strengthen our response capabilities.
Unlike traditional volunteer departments, our volunteers receive compensation for their service. This model allows us to recognize their commitment while maintaining a strong, trained, and dependable workforce.
📊 WHO MAKES UP OUR DEPARTMENT?
The Lindale Fire Department currently has 66 personnel supporting our mission.
* 50 are full-time firefighters and officers with other fire departments.
* 14 hold state-level firefighter certifications who are either new firefighters or retired firefighters
* 2 are currently uncertified and attending fire academy.
These individuals bring valuable experience, training, and dedication to our organization and the community we serve.
🏛️ THE ROLE OF ESD #1
We also want to recognize the important role Smith County ESD #1 and its commissioners play in supporting our department.
Without the ESD and its commissioners, the Lindale Fire Department would not be able to operate at the capacity that we do today.
Their role in funding and supporting our operations, staffing, equipment, and facilities is an important part of providing fire protection to our community. The partnership between the ESD and the department helps make it possible for us to serve our citizens and plan for future growth.
🔥 OUR COMMITMENT TO LINDALE AND ESD #1
Our department is made up of dedicated men and women who work hard to protect our homes, businesses, families, and neighbors. Department leadership continually evaluates staffing, training, equipment, and future needs to ensure we are prepared to grow alongside our community.
We believe an informed community is a stronger community. We encourage citizens to ask questions, learn how their fire department operates, and stay engaged in the decisions that shape the future of emergency services in ESD #1.
At the end of the day, our mission remains the same: to provide professional, dependable fire protection and emergency response to the citizens we are honored to serve.
Thank you for your continued support of the Lindale Fire Department! đźš’
