There is a special sense of comfort in knowing that when an emergency happens, there are dedicated men and women ready to answer the call.

In Village of Lindenhurst, we are fortunate to have first responders who care deeply about the people and families they serve.

Whether it’s a fire, a medical emergency, an accident, or a call for help, our firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, and emergency dispatchers are there when we need them most.

They are our neighbors, our friends, and an important part of what makes Lindenhurst such a wonderful place to call home.

We sometimes take for granted the peace of mind that comes from knowing help is just a phone call away. But behind that reassurance are countless hours of training, long nights, missed family moments, and people willing to put the safety of others before their own.

Today, we want every first responder to know how much you mean to our Village.

Happy National First Responders Day!

The Lindenhurst Village Historian’s Office and the Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst proudly present Lindenhurst – We Were There, a documentary honoring the lives lost, the courage of those who served, and the enduring strength of our community following September 11, 2001.

Told through the firsthand accounts of surviving family members, first responders, survivors, residents, and community leaders, this powerful documentary captures Lindenhurst’s unique perspective on that tragic day and its lasting impact on our community.

Join us for the Red-Carpet Premiere on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Lindenhurst Moose Lodge #1421, located at 883 South Broadway. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the premiere beginning at 7:00 PM. This event is open to the public.

Through stories of loss, remembrance, unity, and perseverance, Lindenhurst – We Were There honors the eight Lindenhurst residents whose lives were lost and pays tribute to the families, survivors, and first responders whose stories remain an important part of our history.

This documentary reflects Lindenhurst’s enduring commitment to remember, honor, and educate future generations about the events of September 11, 2001, and the lasting legacy of a community united in remembrance.

We invite everyone to join us for this meaningful evening as we continue to honor those we lost and reaffirm our promise to never forget.
