https://tularecounty.ca.gov/county/social-media-public-comment-policy In December of 1909, a free reading room was established in Lindsay. Then in July of 1910 the reading room became a Tulare County Library deposit station (a place where patrons could pick up and deposit county library books). On Sept. 16, 1910 it was established as the third Branch Library in Tulare County. Then in 1934, Lindsay applied for a new library building to become a CWA (Civil Works Administration) project, sponsored by the Lindsay School District. The school district provided the funds, the city donated the site, and the CWA contributed labor and material. The Library was built for $10,000 and opened in 1934. Lindsay’s new Branch opened in 2008 and is one of the most attractive buildings in the city.

The theme for Banned Books Week (October 4-10) is "Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read." The American Library Association (ALA) Office of Intellectual Freedom collects censorship information on books that are challenged. Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and it highlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools.
Banned Books Week promotes shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even if the ideas are unpopular. This information highlights censorship data collected by ALA for the year 2025. The data is broken down into informative categories including who challenges books and censorship trends.
During Banned Books Week. Tulare County Library branches will have banned book displays so be sure to check them out.
