We’re so grateful to Friendly City Septic Solutions LLC for literally bailing us out today! They responded right away when we realized our septic pump wasn’t working. We think the electric box was struck by lightning.

We just contributed to the Ida Francis Tourist Home Fund to support preservation of this property in Harrisonburg's Northeast Neighborhood. Consider joining us in making a donation to this important effort! https://cfhr.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=5224

The Ida Francis home provided a safe place for Black travelers, and at the end of its Green Book era in 1962, the house survived the city’s "urban renewal" that demolished most Black-owned homes and businesses in the neighborhood. We contributed in honor of Lucinda, once enslaved at the Lincoln Homestead, and her granddaughter Lucy Simms who was a pillar of the Northeast Neighborhood community.
