📣OFFICIAL STATEMENT RELEASE📣
(feel free to share)

WE HEARD YOU. WE STAND WITH YOU. AND WE ARE MOVING FORWARD.

Following last night's public meeting, the Lisbon Civic & Commerce Board wants to make one thing very clear:

We heard the voices of our local businesses, we witnessed the support of our community, and we listened to what our businesses want and need moving forward.

For years, Lisbon Civic & Commerce has remained committed to one fundamental mission: to advocate for, support, promote, and strengthen our local businesses and the community we serve.

That mission has not changed, and it will not change because of recent challenges, disagreements, or obstacles.

Last night's meeting reinforced the importance of the work our organization does and the value our businesses and community place on those efforts.

After listening to the concerns, requests, and support expressed by businesses and community members at the public meeting, the Lisbon Civic & Commerce Board has made the decision to move forward with resubmitting ALL previously submitted requests for funding and support.

This decision is a direct response to the voices of the businesses and community members who spoke up and made it clear that they want Lisbon Civic & Commerce to continue advocating on their behalf.

Our decision is not about creating conflict or challenging individuals. It is about honoring the wishes of the businesses we represent, remaining true to our mission, and ensuring that requests supporting our local businesses and community receive fair, transparent, and thoughtful consideration.

We firmly believe that the voices of our business community deserve to be heard and respected. The programs, events, promotions, and community initiatives supported by Lisbon Civic & Commerce are intended to benefit not only individual businesses but also the economic vitality and future of Lisbon and our surrounding communities.

Our organization has never been about one person, one board, one committee, or one decision. It has always been about the businesses, the people, and the community we proudly serve.

Differences of opinion should not stand in the way of working together toward common goals. We remain willing to collaborate with all organizations, committees, and city leadership who share the goal of supporting Lisbon's businesses and strengthening our community.

To every business owner, community member, and supporter who attended, spoke up, asked questions, or stood behind our organization at last night's meeting — THANK YOU.

Your voices were heard. Your concerns matter. Your support has reinforced our commitment to continue moving forward.

We will continue to advocate. We will continue to ask questions. We will continue to seek opportunities and resources. And we will continue to stand behind the businesses and community we represent.

We are NOT stepping away from our mission. We are moving forward because of it.

Lisbon Civic & Commerce
Advocating for Our Businesses. Supporting Our Community. Moving Forward Together.

*Editted for information at request of Committee Member

Take note:

Monday, Oct 12th at 5:30 pm, the public and businesses have the opportunity and ask the questions of us, the Lisbon Civic & Commerce, on the topics on the agenda before the City Council , and the subcommittees of STAR and LV & EB that make the *editted* recommendations for the City Council on how your tax dollars are spent.

We, the Lisbon Civic and Commerce, have not been public about statements, or potentially misleading information stated about us as an organization or our acting Executive Director. We tried to not sway the community to choose who may or may not be in the right. Who and what we advocate for is the reason why we believe others want to make sure we cannot continue. We want full transparency, and that begins at the City Council level and subcommittees.

What we have done is continue in 2026, without the City funding, although it be limited for the last few years, for the events or in support of the Executive Director who plans, coordinates, and facilitates community events and volunteers not only time, but also the expenses of having the Civic and Commerce office at her home, the daily vehicle expenses to accommodate the never ending trips to hang flyers all over, to pick up and distribute C&C Bucks every week, to get the mail daily, to go to the banks (all 3 of them), the trips to the storage unit where everything must be stored outside of everyday office use items, and all of it was unfunded by the choice of the City in 2026 until just last Monday night when the City Council approved just some of the expenses for advertising related to community events held in late 2025 and through current 2026, after LV & EB made the recommendations and determined what was and wasn't acceptable to put on the community events that were submitted in great detail to LV & EB for consideration.

We have continued without any interruption with the weekly newsletters, amongst other things and without making any of this a political debate of parties or entities, and grown the membership base, right along with the audience that is willing to come to Lisbon for our events but the most important accomplishment is to be the face of a Community that we all can and should be proud of. We have hoped you have made memories with us at the Lisbon Civic and Commerce, at our events, and will always remain our intent. We will continue to work hard to bring the best events to our community, to stand for our businesses, members and community, and advocate where we feel that it right to do.

We want and need your support on Monday, Oct 12th at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers in the lower level of the Lisbon Lisbon Public Library to show the City Council and the subcommittee members there is value in the Lisbon Civic and Commerce and what it does for the Community.

If you want to sign the online petition - please use the link and please share so others can sign too:

If you can not attend, and want to leave a post below of why you support, we will submit these along with the online petition to the City Council.

If you have questions that we the Lisbon Civic and Commerce can answer at anytime, we welcome them always. We are open to showing our records, with full transparency, from the current Board, and from previous Boards with the resources we were given. We will gladly share with the public and businesses with full disclosure.
