New school year, new routines! 🎒 Kids thrive when they know what to expect. Take a few minutes after school or before bed to check in about tomorrow—what’s for lunch, who’s picking them up, what they need to remember and one thing they’re looking forward to.

These little conversations help kids feel prepared, supported and connected.

🦇 BAT IN YOUR HOME? KNOW WHAT TO DO.

We’ve had some recent bat exposures in our area, so here’s a quick reminder about rabies prevention:

👉 Never touch a bat with your bare hands. Keep children and pets away.

👉 If you were bitten, scratched, or had direct contact with a bat, wash the area immediately with soap and water and contact your healthcare provider or local ER.

👉 If you wake up to find a bat in the room, or a bat was in a room with a young child or someone unable to reliably report contact, contact ND HHS for guidance.

👉 Do not release a bat that may need to be tested. Contact the North Dakota Game & Fish Department at 701-328-6300 for guidance on dead bats and collection/testing.

📞 Human exposure questions: ND HHS Disease Control Unit
701-328-2378 | 800-472-2180

🐾 If your pet had contact with a bat: Contact your veterinarian right away.

⚠️ Bat bites can be tiny and difficult to see. When in doubt, call and ask!
