Visit our website for tour dates and times. Created in 1980 as a forever home for displaced wolves and wolfdogs, Wolf Sanctuary of PA sanctuary has grown into an educational facility. The Wolves of Speedwell hold a unique position as Ambassadors to the wild. It has been said that “the best wolf habitat resides in the human heart.” Perhaps it is also that the best habitat for our own wildness resides in the heart of the Wolf. Wolf Sanctuary of PA currently provides food, shelter and veterinary care for gray wolves and wolfdogs. With no government or corporate assistance, it is only, by your continued support and interest do the Wolves thrive.

We are so grateful for our volunteers and staff who help the wolves each and every day. This year we will be sharing some of our volunteers and staff as they celebrate their "rescue" anniversaries with the sanctuary.

Today, our volunteer Mandy celebrates 21 years at the sanctuary!
Mandy's Favorite wolf: Akela
Mandy's Favorite Volunteer Task: Feeding wolves and observing their behaviors
Mandy's Favorite Thing about Wolf Sanctuary of PA: How our wolves have spacious enclosures to run, play & live. I love giving tours & fully educating the visitors on our wolf family & wolf facts in general, clearing up any myths on wolves

Thank you Mandy!

Happy Halloween from our very own Thackeray Binx! 🐈‍⬛ Our office cats were all rescued and serve very important roles at the sanctuary. Binx is head of our HR department and he takes his job very seriously. Office cats can be symbolically adopted to support the wolves.

WOLF FACT WEDNESDAY. Instead of having a single long bedtime, wolves sleep in multiple short bursts throughout the day and night. These rest periods usually add up to about 10-14 hours of total daily sleep, though they can sleep for over 10 hours straight after a heavy meal. Did you know this?

Happy Wolf Awareness Week! As we close out the week, it's important to mention that wolves are a keystone species, meaning they are vital to the ecosystems they inhabit and their presence or absence can create a ripple effect throughout the food chain, impacting many other organisms througout their environment. Apex predators like wolves bring a necessary balance to the ecosystem that ensures that many other species continue to thrive.

Happy Wolf Awareness Week! Fun fact: A key means of communication for wolves is their body language. Similar to humans, a wolf will use certain movements, gestures, and facial expressions to communicate their mood.

Happy Wolf Awareness Week! Fun fact: Wolves are one of the most social carnivores. While many meat-eaters in the animal kingdom prefer to hunt alone, wolves travel and hunt in packs which are typically family units.
