Little Hocking Fire and Rescue Little Hocking Fire & Rescue Inc. With equipment acquired from area fire departments the idea became a reality.

In July 1963, a group of men from Little Hocking, Ohio decided to pursue the organizing of a fire protection service to Belpre and Decatur townships. The first station was owned by an area businessman and was a temporary home before a permanent station could be completed in 1966. Since then, an addition to the station was added and in 1983, emergency medical service was started. LHVFD currently provides Fire and EMS coverage to Belpre and Decatur townships, in addition to Water Rescue and Dive operations in the surrounding areas.

Boat acquisition:

Our Dive Team recently acquired a 2012 North River aluminum boat for use as a dive platform, and an all-weather cabin to operate our high definition sidescan sonar system.

This vessel was originally acquired by Marietta Police Department through the US Coast Guard Port Security Grant Program in 2012. LHFD received the vessel this week for no cost and after maintenance and customization (dive and sonar equipment), we hope to place the vessel in service by January 2027.

Our dive team is a regional asset and responds to incidents throughout the area. In the past several years, our call volume has drastically increased especially throughout the winter months. This piece of equipment will allow us to safely operate on large waterways in inclement weather. We thank Marietta City Council, Marietta Mayor Josh Schlicher, Safety Service Director Steve Wetz and the Marietta Police Department for allowing us to continue protecting the area waterways with this new asset.
