Historic Arkansas Museum is home to a historic city block including the oldest building in Little Rock, an 1850's Farmstead, galleries of Arkansas-made art and history ranging from indigenous Arkansans to contemporary artists and artisans. Call if you have questions.*

Tens of thousands of Arkansans and tourists enter our doors each year — including thousands of schoolchildren — and are welcomed into a world where the past is alive. Here, they connect with actual objects and hear real, first-person stories of Arkansas’s early days. They step into a house where trappers, boatmen and surveyors passed through; or into an exhibit that explores the bowie knife and its Arkansas connection. General Information

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame!

As the program celebrates its 10th anniversary, Arkansans are invited to nominate the people, places and food traditions that make our state special.

Nominations are open through September 30, 2026, with five categories to choose from:
• Arkansas Food Hall of Fame: Recognizing long-standing restaurants that have helped shape Arkansas’ food culture.
• Restaurateur of the Year: Honoring a chef, cook or restaurant owner who has made a significant impact on their community and Arkansas’ culinary heritage.
• Food-Themed Event: Celebrating food festivals and community events that share Arkansas’ unique food traditions.
• Gone But Not Forgotten: Remembering past establishments whose legacy helped shape Arkansas’ food story.
• People’s Choice: Celebrating the restaurants and food trucks that Arkansans love, from new discoveries to beloved institutions.

Your nomination can help preserve the food stories that deserve to be remembered and shared for generations to come.

💌 SPECIAL DELIVERY: A Love Letter to Downtown from Historic Arkansas Museum

Some places preserve history. Others invite you to step inside it.

For more than 80 years, the Historic Arkansas Museum has been sharing the stories that shaped our state—and for nearly two decades, it’s helped shape one of Downtown Little Rock’s most beloved traditions as a founding participant of 2nd Friday Art Night.

Home to the oldest standing building in Little Rock, beautifully preserved 19th-century homes, living history demonstrations, and the renowned Arkansas Made collection, the museum offers a chance to experience Arkansas’s past while celebrating the creativity that continues to define it today.

On 2nd Friday Art Night, the museum comes alive with live music, exhibition opening receptions, Arkansas Made b**r, and an evening of exploration across its historic grounds. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, there’s always something new to discover.

History isn’t just something we read about—it’s something we experience together. And there’s no better place to begin than right here in the heart of downtown.
